Structural foam injection, also known as structural foam moulding is a technique derived from injection moulding. During the injection moulding process, a chemical foaming agent is injected into the mould to make the plastic foam. This allows us to produce thick-walled, rigid and strong products that can include a number of features. The main advantages of SFI (or SFM) over injection moulding and RIM are a better product and fewer post-production assembly activities.

We produce all SFI/SFM products at our own production site in the Netherlands, where we can also add a coating of your choosing. Although we often outsource the production of moulds to Asia, this does not apply to the products themselves. We deliberately choose to handle all SFI/SFM activities ourselves in order to safeguard the required quality and delivery times.

When it comes to SFI/SFM, our main focus is on the production of relatively large components. Think of e.g. moulded parts that require the use of machines of more than 200 tonnes or which weigh more than 200 grammes each. Additionally, we offer in-house coating services.

There is a large number of different plastics suitable for SFI on the market, many of them with a variety of additions. Fact is, that only freely available plastics are used, unless we mutually agree on a bespoke speciality. This way you maintain flexibility.
